Fine early Massim Saw Tooth Club with Facial Design, Trobriand Islands, Papua new Guinea. Carved and engraved hardwood. Exhibited at the 1980 Massim Tribal Art exhibition in Wollongong City Gallery. Carved from ebony, with a snake or possibly a crocodile head incised near the oval end of the blade of the club. Approx L58cm.
